I cam across Samsung’s take on the bluetooth stereo headphones. It’s about time they put some resources into this, as their mobile phones have been one of the earliest to include A2DP profile for most of their phones.

Samsung’s slim and sleek series really has a great appeal and since they have the A2dp profile and other nice features from the bulkier competitors.. The only thing is most of them are still not 3G phones.

Reviews around the net have not been positive. It ranges from the difficult to wear (the cable is suppose to hook around your ears.) to poor sound quality (though some say its ok.)

I still really like my Moto S9 headphones!

I have to say, this is a great list of freeware design / graphics programs for everyone to use. From simple image editing to 3D animation and taking care of fonts management…

Just got released for beta testing.. Mozilla (Firefox) engine is now available for n800 users.

1. Mozilla Engine – provides support for the latest web standards and is flexible and extensible, and is based on mozilla.org’s current Gecko layout engine which will be version 1.9 when it is released with Firefox 3.0
2. AJAX Support – allows rendering of modern sites that use AJAX (e.g. Google Maps, Google Docs, Meebo, etc.)
3. RSS Previews – takes advantage of native support for XML to render RSS feeds
4. Add-ons – support for a number of Firefox and Mozilla add-ons allows you to enhance and personalize your browsing experience
5. Certificate Details – view certificate details for secure connections by pressing the lock button.

Before you install, let me tell you, I tried it.. but the current bugs e.g.

1. Wasted space from side of scroll bar to screen
2. Unable to use touch screen to scroll/navigate around screen (this is my main disincentive)
3. Not very fast for some sites

and others have reported the on-screen keyboard popping up more often than it should..

Other than the above, there have been really positive feedback on this release from Nokia… oh and you can switch between engines if you want to. (Opera and Mozilla).

It should be located in your menu just under ‘Close’ option. If you don’t see it there, you will need to do the following.

Using – sudo gainroot

and execute the following commands

cp .browser .browser.bak

cat .browser.bak | sed s/hidden=true/hidden=false/ > .browser

I would recommend one wait for the next release before installing this great update.

Here’s a picture of my Nokia n800 which I got when I was in the US in Jan 2007.

There’s a new firmware updated just out about 2 weeks ago. Now it has native support for Skype and Flash 9 works better (still not perfect but much better).

I’ll be sharing on how to get more out of this cool toy!

When I visited the USA, last Christmas, I wanted to buy something for myself as a treat.. something that I could get during my visit which was better value purchased there than from Singapore or something that I couldn’t get in Singapore.

I was looking at the original Nokia 770.. which had a few first generation model issues (slow…battery life… slow).

Cutting the long story short… I ended up with a N800 which was just launched within the last few days of my Los Angles trip.

So without further ado.. let me introduce the Nokia N800… it’s a great idea…

Support for the Nokia n800 to do A2dp is still via 3rd party.. and with my previous posting, it was just a experinment to see how well the N800 can support A2dp..

Now, with Kagu’s Media Player for the n800, there’s an easier way to select music and play it via the a2dp stereo headphones.

I found a page that the author packaged and have instructions on giving you ‘alpha quality’ bluetooth A2dp support to the Nokia N800 tablet.

There’s word that Nokia already is planning to give the N800 native A2dp support.. its on their roadmap… just a question of time… I can’t wait!!

Nokia has released the newest firmware update for most N73 models and upgraded it with a more stable release than before.

I can verify that the A2dp function works well with the Motorola S9 headphones. Pairing it up and even using it to answer phone calls are easy and straight forward.

The phone also feels more responsive, it’s like having a new phone!

Though, I have not been getting very good pictures with the camera under indoor conditions. I will try out more over the next few days.

To update : Just use the Nokia Software Updater.

UPDATE: You can use your original phone code now. (There’s no need for the use of another product code already) Just make sure the firmware is 4.0.2.xxxxx.
